Avissawella Scouts, operating under the Sri Lanka Scout Association, focuses on youth development by upholding core scouting values. Through leadership training, outdoor activities like camping, and community service, the group fosters disciplined, resilient, and socially responsible leaders equipped with practical life skills.
Scouting is a global, voluntary, non-political educational movement that provides a proven framework for character development and responsible citizenship through practical, outdoor, and adventure-based learning. It is fundamentally important because it teaches young people self-reliance, leadership, and teamwork through its unique Promise and Law and the Patrol System, ensuring they gain the essential life skills and moral compass needed to become active, capable, and ethical contributors to their local and global communities.
We believe in the vision of Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scout Movement, who said, "Try and leave this world a little better than you found it." Inspired by this guiding principle, and together with our partners across diverse spheres, we strive to deliver well-structured and value-based educational programs that nurture the physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual growth of young people. Our youth programme is designed to support a diverse range of members from the ages of 5 to 24 years, empowering them with life skills, leadership qualities, and a strong sense of service to build responsible citizens for the future.
